Social Issues and the Thinkism Art Movement

Why the Marriage of Art and Social Issues?

The Thinkism Art Movement uses art to make the world a better place.  There is an overwhelming need to deal intelligently with various human and social issues. The Thinkism Art Movement hopes to use art as fundamental building blocks to build a more functional and promising society. Since art crosses all cultural barriers,  it can be a bridge to bring awareness, and to fund various social issues. The Save Our Planet Foundation will use proceeds raised by The Thinkism Art Movement to support various social issues.

Art is a record of mankind.  Future historians 100 years from now will look back at art of the 21st century to determine how we lived, what we thought, what we did, how we related with one another, and how we dealt with social issues. What will they find? Probably they will find paintings, and artworks of nice flowers, pretty houses, still life fruits, and other beautiful things, but are they really relevant?

Society is changing rapidly. The world is on the brink of disaster. Numerous animal and plant species are facing extinction, we have: war, terrorism, biological terror, rising crime, climate changes, poverty, pollution, prejudices, hate, and other complex issues.

This is suppose to produce powerful art. What do we get? Most of the world's artist are producing attractive wall paintings, and decoration art. This type of art lacks great significance and importance. Art can be more than mere decorations on a wall.

The political, economic, and social situation of the world should be intelligently reflected in all arts. The movie, television, and entertainment industry has done a great job of giving us a birds eye view of the world; it can also thrust us into an emotional roller coaster ride by bringing us to tears, uplifting us with joy, giving us hope, generating excitement, and wonder.

However, the recent fine art sector has been lacking in producing powerful, and awe-inspiring impressions. We get recycled art, following along historical lines. Art as mere wall decorations do not enrich our minds or stir our souls. The Thinkism art movement plans change all this.

What we Plan to Do?

The Thinkism Art Movement seeks to use art to strengthen our civil liberties and civil rights. Greater understanding of and respect for these basic rights will enhance the ability of individuals and groups to realize their full potential. The Thinkism Art Movement uses art to fund programs that address issues involving free speech, censorship, freedom of information, equal opportunity, privacy, due process, equal protection, equal justice and racism.

The Thinkism Art Movement seeks to use art to help break the cycle of urban poverty and hopelessness by expanding economic opportunity. The Thinkism Art Movement supports programs that assist young mothers and fathers to become more self-sufficient, responsible and effective as parents. Other issues we are dealing with are shown in the table below. We are only scratching the surface of social issues.

Alone we cannot do much, so we hope to recruit poets, writers, artists, celebrities, art galleries, museums, community groups, and other people to support The Thinkism Art Movement.
